Who's Got the Best Theme Park Commercial?

Universal Orlando's got a new spot out, as does Six Flags. Who's got the best TV campaign going?

Great Theme Park Commercial

Been a while since I've seen a good theme park commerical. This Universal Orlando one is very well done!

It has a nice remix of "Surrender" and some cool shots of people doing what the theme park industry is about... losing themselves and having fun!

It's more well-rounded then the Six Flags commercial...this one is actually real (except for the poor acting on mummy =) ) Whenever this commercial comes on I think of three things:

1. Work
2. My first trip to Orlando
3. Robert Niles, Kevin Baxter, T. Holland, Ben Mills, Joe Lane, Matthew Woodall, Russell Meyer, J. Dana, Robert O'Grosky, Jeff Arons, aka the rat pack. ;)

Thanks!

Oh forgot to mention one person... Bryan Fear!!! Man where has he been?

Ive seen the Universal commerical and i would agree it is very good and the best one that comes to mind. I see the disney magic gatherings commercials often and while i like seeing the parks im not impressed by it nor does it make me want too have a family re-union at wdw.
Now since i live close to a SF park i daily see the SF commerical and i maybe in the minority but i think it is DUMB!!!! Seeing this dumb old guy dance around stupidly doesnt make me wan t to go to a theme park!!

I see this senior codger on MY TV too, advertising the Six Flags park near me. He's all over the billboards inside the park too.

The Six Flags campaign looks like a candidate for the Pets.com syndrome -- the pitch's character becomes so memorable that he overshadows the product. The combination of the old guy and the music is hilarious, but it does zilch to make me want to visit their parks. Granted, since the company doesn't have the cash for any new rides, it needed an "atmosphere" hook for this year's campaign. But what they got strikes me as too clever for its own sake.

The 'new' theme song for the Six Flags company, 'We Like To Party', overshadows the park too, not just the man. Inside the park, the song is played every 15 and 45 on the hour and after a while it abides in your head all day. You'll then eventually get sick and tired of it. Not to say I don't like the old man or say that he has no talent. And yes, the combination of the man, the music, and the bus is good clean fun. But how would an ad like this draw thrill-seekers to the property?

don't be complaining just from hearing it play over and over in 1 day. Imagine how it is for me working there, hearing that everyday. For some reason I'm used to it

also if you call SFMM. "we like to party" is also the telephone they play when they put you on hold or something. However the song is popular because of the Six Flags advertising. One thing, it's hillarious to see the guests dance to this song, everytime they play it..someone in the park is dancing to the song

The Cedar Point commercials are fairly good this year. They consist of interviews with about 5-10 people saying a few things about the park. It is very well done.

Geauga Lake has an average commercial. It has a family in a car heading towards Geauga Lake, and then the Geauga Lake theme song starts to play (The song is average too, all it really says is "Its Gonna Be Fun. Geauga Lake. Its Gonna Be Great. Geauga Lake.") and everyone in the car starts to dance along with the song. Then when they pull up to the park the father says "Its Back and its gonna be fun!".

I personally like the Universal Orlando commercials, however I keep on seeing them on TV so they are starting to get old for me.

Can I just say, I thought that advert for Universal Resort Florida had a number of glaring errors. I mean the main thrust of advert pitch was good, a vacation from the ordinary but the compilation was poor.

A. The advert was too long. Short, sharp and snappy are the keys to advertising success, especially in a world of remote control clicking multi-channel television. The ad almost seemed like several ads put together in one, their was little co-ordinated strategy for the viewer.

B. The song behind the ad was appalling, I mean would you remember the ad after watching it? I certainly wouldn't.

C. I liked the kid glaring down at the couple 'making out' on the beach, but how does that tie-in with a family resort in Orlando? Orlando is in the centre of Florida, away from the coast, the last time I checked.

Themepark ads are usually quite poor on the whole, the main reason being that the creative team get slightly carried away with either the excitement of the rides or the brief given to them by the themepark.

The Cedar Point advert is good, I agree with the earlier comment. That combines funky music, excitement of the rides and guest reactions.

I was at Cedar Point last Halloweekends when they were shooting their Halloween commercials! I have pictures if anyone wants to see! The monsters saw me watching and after they were done, they chased after me! I made friends with some of them, but watch for the Halloweekends commercial this year, it's going to be good!

Why i dont care for the song, i find it even worse when it is played in the Southwest Terr. section of the park and is out of theme to the area and the other music played in this section of the park.

You look at a commercial like the Universal one and it makes people wanna visit the park. Not onlt that, but it also shows other parts of the resort.

Where Popeye is walking through on his cell phone is that Portofino? How about Frankestein sending the two girls a drink, c'mon that's good stuff. I even think there's one with him in a jacuzzi.

What makes this commercial so dang good is it appeals to the young and the old the party animal and the serene person.

SF: Overplayed. I hated that Venga Boys track when it hit the clubs years ago.

Universal: Fun,original and very pixie dust free.

"3. Robert Niles, Kevin Baxter, T. Holland, Ben Mills, Joe Lane, Matthew Woodall, Russell Meyer, J. Dana, Robert O'Grosky, Jeff Arons, aka the rat pack. ;)"

Wow, I'm noticed! ;-)

For theme park commercials, you can't beat that USF/IOA commercial, except for the cheap acting on ROTM. And, has anyone seen the ROTM commercial with all those snakes roaming around a house? That was cool.

And about Six Flags, I saw this one on Nickelodeon while browsing through channels, advertising this contest thing where, like, a kid and 3 friends get to go to any Six Flags park for 5 days, for free. It showed a crappy movie of some kids on Scream!, and, boy, it DOES look bumpy, from that movie. Like other people have been saying, either the pieces weren't meant to fit together, or they did a poor job of putting it together.

Universal's current commercial is good. I liked the one were they said,"Outgrown fairy tales and pixy dust?" That was a good one!

if you watch as much world poker tour and vegas programming as i do on the travel channel(about every night), then you've probably seen the universal commercial a thousand times like i have. i think its a good commercial and it's effective because whenever i hear that surrender song for the rest of my life, im gonna think of universal.

I think Universal has the best commercial, argubaly. Disney should compete with this commercial by highlighting thier parks in a more exciting tone. Meanwhile, has anybody ever heard The Who single, "Anyway, Anyhow, Anywhere?" Well, when you go to Disney World, people think about being swept away by the parks' adventures. The commercial could show kids rocking with a rock star at the entrance of Rock N Roller Coaster; parents flying over London with Peter Pan and people being terrified by Dinosaurs! What do you guys think?

I'm sorry to say that Disney's commercials suck. Another suggestion is The Who single, "My Generation." Disney has thrill rides like "Mission Space," "Rock N Roller Coaster," "Tower Of Terror," "Star Tours," and "Test Track," all of which are thrill rides for the thrill ride generation. They can play that song while highlighting those rides. Then at the end, Disney can say "Why is the Globe trying to put the generation of thrill seekers at Disney World down?" Catchy!

T Bone...I watch Travel Channel about every night, also, and every time I see that commercial, I think to myself, "I gotta go to IOA real soon," even though I just went about 3 weeks ago (and today I picked up the pictures!)

By far the Universal ad campaign of rescent is the best ads that I have ever seen for a themepark. Some of the Halloween Ads are extremely grabing too. Worst ads go to the crapy, Knott's Ad that has "Lets go to Knotts" repeated in the audio background. Runner up is the old bastard who just can't stop danceing for Six Flags. Not to mention he can't go on most of the rides too. Busch Gardens older Ads for Montu were very eye catching also
