Most Creative Coaster Name?

What's the most creative name out there? A name that may have actually made you think twice about riding, or made you want to ride it that much more!?

Everytime we go to an amusement park, we want to ride the newest roller coaster. Roller Coaster's are pieces of steel track, yet we refer to them by name...

What's the most creative name out there? A name that may have actually made you think twice about riding, or made you want to ride it that much more!?

Is it Xcelerator? Is it something as simple as, Great Bear? Or is it the thrilling first coaster you rode with grandpa, like Space Mountain, or Big Thunder Mountainh Railroad?

What do many of you think is the most creative coaster name?

Alpengeist..Very creative, that really describes the themeing of the ride.

I would have to say the Hulk. Very well themed and it also loves up to its name. I mean Universal even had a plot to the coaster I thought that was engenius.

I don't think Hulk is a very creative name, but it is a very well themed ride.

Paris Disney's "Space Mountain:De La Terre A La Lune" certainly gets the vote for the longest name for a coaster.

I always thought that Six Flag's Great America's "Raging Bull" was a strange name for a coaster--it always conjured images of Robert DeNiro's Jake LaMotta.

"Apollo's Chariot" and "Dueling Dragons" were pretty evocative coaster names...

I also thought the Disney theme of naming its coasters after mountains (Space Mountain, Big Thunder Mountain, Splash Mountain) was pretty cool although I can't decide if sticking "mountain" in the names of all the coasters was creative or lazy on the part of Disney, but it works for me.

HYPERSONIC XLC STILL HOLDS THE TOP SPOT FOR THE MOST CREATIVE ROLLER COASTER NAME

Alpengeist is a cool name.
Georgia Scorcher is a hot name.

The best name for me was The Great American Revolution. Back when this attraction opened in 1976, the name invoked two celebrations for our country: our nation's bicentennial and the creation of the world's first complete circuit, vertical looping coaster!!!

Grizzly and Shivering Timbers are also a couple great names.
Montezuma's Revenge was a very strange title for a roller coaster, tho.

I have always liked "Tonnerre de Zeus" (thunder of Zeus) at Parc Asterix near Paris.

The Busch parks always come up with creative and orignial names like: Alpengiest, Montu, Apollo's Chariot, Kraken, Kumba, Gwazi, Loch Ness Monster, and Steel Eel. I especially like how the names of their coasters usually mean something, such as Kumba meaning "roar".

Montu Is A Great Coaster With A Great Name.

Rock 'n Roller Coaster is imaginative. A good coaster name will describe the ride.

Yeah, but descriptive isn't always creative (which incidentally is the subject of this discussion).

Example: Any one of the million rides named something like "The Runaway Mine Train".

it has to be "X"...since the arrow coaster is 4 dimensional and the letter "x" has 4 points on it. since the coaster is so revolutionary the name x could also mean xtreme or out of this world.

Millennium Force. It really grabs you. Now, the LEAST creative name is Corkscrew. Duh.

No, the least creative coaster name are the portable coasters called "Roller Coaster".;-) I think the most creative is...X, nah actually probably I don't know there are a lot of good names...

I will second the vote for "Shivering Timbers". It is creative and describes the ride quite well.

The worst names have to do with movie or character tie-ins. Totally lame and devoid of any creative thought.

I always loved names like "Loch Ness Monster" and "The Beast," which portrayed the coasters as living entities -- vicious creatures. Quite a bit more romantic than dull, mechanical names like "Xcelerator" and "Millennium Force."

The bottom line:

After research at www.rcdb.com, I was able to find out that Roller Coaster was the name to 44 different roller coasters. In second, with 23, is Corkscrew. And in third, with 11, is Big Apple. And only one of the parks is in New York state, none in New York City!

I think that Millennium Force is a very creative coaster name because the ride took a long jump into the future of the next millennium. Muwahahaha.. I also think that The Beast is a very original name, as simple as it is. When you thenk of a beast.. you think of something really scary... and if you've ever rode The Beast at night... you would know that it is really scary. I also agree that the name "Rollercoaster and Corkscrew" are completly stupid name. The name X is pretty lame too.

X is a really creative name, which stands for Xtreme, and Deja Vu is also a creative name and fits its ride well.

I think Mission: Space is simple yet creative, yet nauseating :-).

I second KANNi8L KL0wN's vote for the Georgia Scorcher.

There are too many Supermans.

X isn't creative.

Blue Streak is a unique idea. It's named after a local football team.

I personally think The Beast is a simple name. Same with X but X and Beast are pretty cool rides. But my person favorites have got to be Excalibur, Iron Wolf, Raging Bull, and Millenium Force sounds pretty cool.
