Plus you did not say it was designed for coasters but rather it is FEATURED on many roller coasters throughout the world!

Who is King Henry VIII?

From Joe Atchison III
Posted August 4, 2009 at 1:05 PM
And that's that. Looks like we're done.

From James Rao
Posted August 4, 2009 at 1:08 PM
Good job, Raul. I had no idea on this one... and for others who had no idea:

"From 1986 until it closed on June 22nd 2000 King Henry's Feast was one of the most popular dining and entertainment attractions in Orlando, and all of Florida. Millions visited the attraction and it was voted the best entertainment venue again and again. Not a Las Vegas multi million dollar spectacular with fireworks, laser light shown and feathered dancers, but good traditional entertainment for all of the family."

So, was the food any good?

From TH Creative
Posted August 4, 2009 at 1:12 PM
And Raul drops the exclamation point on a masterful performance!

Nicely done sir!

That's concludes Double Jeopardy which puts us into Final Jeopardy. Our top three contestants will now be eligible to compete.

They are:

Joe Atchison - 12200
Raul Araoz - 13500
James Rao - 4800

So let's review the procedures for Final Jeopardy. In a moment, I will reveal the Final Jeopardy category. Once it has been identified, our three finalists will click on my name (THCreative -- above) and use the TPI "send a message" function to place their final wagers. Once I have received their wagers, I will reply with a confirmation email indicating that I have received their wager and the time I will email them again with the answer. Once the answer has been sent, the contestants shall email me with their response. Once all responses are in I will return to the thread and reveal the TPJ champion.

If a contestant has a question about this procedure they should email that question to me BEFORE placing their wager.

I hope everyone can follow all of that. So let's reveal the final TPJ category:

Mission Space

Contestants, I await the emails containing your wagers.

BTW, Mission: Space, the spinning version of the attraction, is my favorite ride at Epcot. And one of my top five in all of WDW. I know that statement has nothing to do with your upcoming question, however, I thought it should be noted since I have no chance to win this thing and am only along "for the ride" anyway. ;p

From TH Creative

We can only assume Joe is unavailable. I am about to jump into my commute home. I will await his wager (read the rules above Joe), I will send the confirming email and await the responses from the contestants.

We may very well wrap this sucker tonight.

From TH Creative

Okay, all the answers are in, so let's see how this thing turned out.

The category was Mission Space and here was the answer:

"In the year 2030, this intrepid voyager will show whether or not in space someone can hear you bark."

I was standing in line a few weeks ago at EPCOT's Mission Space. Along the wall in the queue area were various photos of historic figures who were involved in spae exploration. Since the attraction is themed for the future (revolving around a mission to Mars) the photos on the wall started by showing people from past missions (John Glenn, Sally Ride, etc.) but then crossed present day and showed future space travellers. One of those photos showed the very first FAMILY that travelled into space in the year 2030. Included in the photo was the family dog: a dalmation named "Sunspot."

The correct answer: "Who is Sunspot."

So let's see how our contestants did.

James Rao, came back late in the game to qualify for Final Jeopardy. He was in third with 4800. His answer: "What are Mission Space: Postcards?"

Um ... that's not correct. How much did he bet? 4800 which drops him down to zero. Sorry, old friend.

Next is Joe Atchison. Joe dominated late in the Double Jeopardy round. He bet 10800. And his response? Who is Richard Branson?

Quite the stab in the dark. He is also incorrect and drops to 1400.

This leaves Raul Araoz. It was impossible NOT to be impressed with Raul's performance. In Double Jeopardy RA built a wide margin picking off some very tricky answers. In Final Jeopardy Raul got very bold and bet 10901.

And his answer ... believe it or not "Who is Sunspot?" Raul's score LEAPS to 24,401, Raul you are the first champion of Theme Park Insiders Theme Park Jeopardy!

(I encourage those reading this at home to rise to their feet and applaud wildly).

Congratulatiosn Raul! You offered up a STELLAR performance. Congrats also to Joe and Jizzle Rizzle! You both made it to the final round -- well done.

And finally thanks to all who participated. It was a lot of fun. We will have to do this again some time down the road.

Hope everyone had big fun!

From James Rao
Posted August 4, 2009 at 5:10 PM
I guess I should have read the answer better, then I would have known you were looking for a "name". Oops... never rush Final Jeopardy! Thanks TH for a fun game! I wish I could have had more chances to participate. Perhaps next time.

From Raul Araoz
Posted August 4, 2009 at 5:03 PM
Fantastic! So what do I win?

Anyway...let me just say, on behalf of everyone who participated, that we really appreciate the time and effort you put into this game.

This was no small feat and it provided an immense entertainment value to everyone while they were slogging through work or bored at home.

This is why you, TH, are truly one of the great TPI contributors. We are indebted to your presence.

Thank you.

From James Rao

One thing I did find out was that the first real animal in space was a Soviet space dog named Laika.

From James Rao
Posted August 4, 2009 at 5:18 PM
Oh, and in case you are wondering, here are the Mission:Space postcards I was referring to...check out the one with the dog. He's not a dalmatian, and he looks like Benji, so obviously this is not a picture of Sunspot. Oh well. Anyway, they are kind of fun. Never noticed them before.

From Derek Potter

Okay, delurking now.

Do we need a Theme Park Jeopardy feature on the site now? I can code something up if there's interest, in lieu of just doing it via the discussion forum. Or I can remove the 100-post limit on a TPJ thread, if folks would prefer that.

Thanks to TH for running this!

From Nick Markham
Posted August 4, 2009 at 6:55 PM
All of those ideas are great Robert! It would be perfect and a lot easier, especial since this seems to get so popular, we end up using 5 threads just to finish! And I may have fallen from first to last in the end, but I'll Be Back! ;)

From Raul Araoz

Wow my original idea, though slow moving at first, and made into perfection by TH, could have its own column? What a great idea, and it sounds cool. I wish i could have also participated more in the competetion. Thank you TH for all your dedication to the thread consistently. I could have never kept that up as well as you did. And congradulations Raul for ur insanely smart questions to the answers given. Great job to you to Joe and James. These last two jeopardy threads have been tons of fun!
