Universal Parks & Resorts and the Genting Group (Leisure and Hospitality Division) are currently bidding on a lush casino resort on Singapore's Sentosa Island. If Universal and Genting win the bid they plan to open a 20-attraction theme park. Sixteen of the twenty attractions will be original or redesigned distinctly for the Sentosa theme park. Universal Sentosa will consist of six themed regions encompassing a lagoon. Attractions within the different regions will include rides and shows like Waterworld, Jurassic Park, Spider-Man, Twister, Shrek, and Revenge of the Mummy. Imported rides will not be carbon-copies of the rides that are currently found in Universal's parks around the world, the attractions will be redesigned specifically for Universal Sentosa. Other attractions planned include rides and shows with storylines from Madagascar, Sesame Street, and King Kong. Universal Parks & Resorts estimate that the theme park would bring in more than 5 million visitors a year. The park will act as the backbone in the Genting/Universal project where Genting plans to open a casino-resort while paying the bill for the 1 billion plus Universal resort.
