The Volcano Bay water park at Universal Orlando Resort will close Tuesdays and Thursdays starting September 8, the resort announced today.
The switch to limited days is "based on our operational needs and fall travel trends," Universal said in a press release. Although Universal Orlando has seen a boost in attendance recently due to its Florida resident ticket deal, travel to Central Florida remains far below traditional levels due to the pandemic, further reducing what is usually lower demand for water parks as the weather turns cooler in the fall and winter months.
Volcano Bay was the nation's third-most-visited water park in 2019, according to the TEA/AECOM Theme Index report. The Universal park drew a reported 1.8 million visitors, trailing Walt Disney World's Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach, with 2.2 million and just under two million visitors, respectively.

IOA and USF have to stay open Tuesdays, because that's the day that the people who got on line during the weekend actually will get to the front of the queue to ride. #Crowded

People are just not going to central FL. Ron DeSantis getting into a war with the East Coast Governors means that most of the out of town guests are from Illinois and Pennsylvania.

This makes me think this was the source for the dubious rumor that IOA and USF might do something similar.
