Knott's Bear-y Tales: Return to the Fair, a revival of its classic Knott's Bear-y Tales dark ride... with a new interactive twist.
Knott's Berry Farm's new ride for 2020 was supposed to beThe ride's debut is on hold now, as Knott's and all other theme parks in California are closed due to the pandemic. But Knott's is still working to promote the ride, introducing its characters on the park's Instagram feed.
Knott's definitely is leaning into puns with these names. We've already met the ride's main character, Boysen Bear-y, and his sister Girlsen Bear-y. (Get it?) This week, Knott's showed us a new character — Boysen's wife, who helps bake the Boysenberry pies that will be the catalyst for the ride's story.
Fitting for a professional baker, Boysen's wife's name will be...
Wait for it...
Mary Bear-y.
I think Knott's just broke me with this one. (If you don't get the joke, Mary Berry was one of the long-time judges of the "Great British Bake-Off," making her an international baking celebrity.)
Knott’s Bear-y Tales: Return to the Fair replaces the Voyage to the Iron Reef shooter ride at Knott's, taking over the same space that housed the original Knott’s Bear-y Tales ride from 1975-86. We learned more about the ride during last year's IAAPA Expo in Orlando, where Knott's and development partner Triotech introduced the ride.
The new ride will debut when Knott's reopens its full operation, whenever that might be. For now, Knott's is hosting its Taste of Knott's outdoor food festival on the weekends.
As we look forward to the park's reopening and the return of "Knott’s Bear-y Tales," what are some of your favorite pun-ny theme park names?
TweetMary Bear-y may be new to the pie baking business, but you can bet your bottom dollar she won't stand for any soggy bottoms.
But does she like gin?

Jungle Cruise. Jungle Cruise. Jungle Cruise? Jungle Cruise! Not a specific punny name, but the attraction is basically centered around animal themed pun-chlines.
