won't happen this year, but Universal Orlando isn't walking away from the event entirely.
Halloween Horror NightsThis week, Universal opened a Halloween Horror Nights Tribute Store inside Universal Studios Florida.
"The immersive store celebrates legendary themes and characters from Halloween Horror Nights' past and features a collection of 'throwback' merchandise and more – from t-shirts and socks to posters, face coverings and more – that pays homage to some of the iconic characters and experiences that have haunted guests," Universal said in its press release.
Park visitors can find the store in the same New York location as the Mardi Gras Tribute Store that Universal opened just before the parks closed in March. But you don't have to make the trip to Orlando to get the Halloween Horror Nights gear offered in this new installation. Universal is offering select HHN merchandise on its website, as well as some of the Universal Studios Florida throwback merchandise it has been selling in the parks this summer.
I would love to see more parks offering more of their merchandise online, so that fans who can't make it to the parks have a better option than buying from flippers on eBay. And if the flippers couldn't beat the parks' official online stores on selection anymore, maybe that would lead to more selection and shorter lines for merchandise inside the parks, as the flippers wouldn't be queuing up to buy out the stock at its release any longer.
At least that's my dream in this nightmare of a theme park season.
