America's third Legoland theme park was supposed to open earlier this month. But Covid delayed the opening as Legoland New York as it closed theme parks across the country. Now construction is back on track, and the park is getting ready for a 2021 debut.
To show fans the progress being made, Legoland New York today dropped a construction update video.
Opening in spring 2021 in the Hudson River Valley north of New York City, Legoland New York will bring the state into compliance with a little-known federal law that requires all states with an Orange County that's home to more than a quarter-million people to have at least one theme park in that county. (It's a little known law because I just made it up. But the Orange County thing will be a true fact once Legoland opens.)
Legoland New York will include a new Legoland Hotel, as well as seven themed lands. The highlight promises to be the Lego Factory Adventure Ride, a dark ride on which riders will be turned into Lego Minifigures.
TweetWill be interesting how it works in the colder weather months (which can be nasty in New York).
It will be a seasonal park - not year-round like the other two Legolands (Florida and California).
I'm thankful there's another year as there seems to be a big lack of landscaping. Even with construction stopping in March, shouldn't this park have much more greenery in place if it was planning to open just 3 months later? New York isn't Florida or California where the foliage will grow quickly. A bit worried this Legoland is going to be barren for a world-class theme park. Yet the rides look fun!

Not a LEGO fan at all, but I must admit that the new dark ride looks like quite refreshing compared to the lack of innovation we see so frequently at chain parks.
