The Themed Entertainment Association today canceled its rescheduled 26th annual Thea Awards ceremony and TEA Summit for 2020 and announced that its Thea Case Studies sessions from the summit would move online.
The TEA's summit and awards ceremony had been scheduled for last month at the Disneyland Resort, but the association rescheduled the programs for July once theme parks began closing in March. With theme parks expected to remain closed in the state of California into the summer, the TEA has decided to go with an online program to honor this year's winners.
This year's virtual Thea Award case studies will be a ticketed event, with details and pricing to come. The TEA announced the winners of this year's Thea Awards last November at the IAAPA Expo in Orlando, with honors going to Warner Bros. World Abu Dhabi, Disney's Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, and Universal's Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure, among others.
Next year's TEA Summit and the 27th annual Thea Awards ceremony are scheduled for April 8-10, 2021 at the Disneyland Resort.
