Theme park industry trade association is going virtual to replace its previously canceled 2020 IAAPA Expo Asia. The event has been planned for June 8-11 at the Venetian Macau in China, but the association postponed the event in March to June 2021, due to the pandemic.
Today, IAAPA announced that it will hold an expo event for the Asia market this year, but it will do so online. The IAAPA Virtual Expo Asia will happen July 28-30.
"We are excited to introduce our first IAAPA Virtual Expo to the Asia Pacific market to meet the needs of our members during this time," June Ko, executive director and vice president, IAAPA Asia Pacific Operations, said. "IAAPA Virtual Expo: Asia is a new, innovative way for IAAPA to provide a unique experience for global attractions industry professionals to learn, buy, and connect. And while this event is unlike any other IAAPA has hosted before, it will still deliver high-quality, engaging, and important content and opportunities that IAAPA is known for."
The event will include virtual education sessions, virtual networking areas, and a virtual show floor where exhibitors and suppliers can introduce their products and services while engaging in real-time chats with attendees.
Registration is now open for the event, which is free to IAAPA members. The registration fee is $200 for nonmembers.
IAAPA's other two expos for 2020 remain scheduled as planned - for now - with the IAAPA Expo Europe slated for September 22-24 in London and the IAAPA Expo on for Orlando in November. IAAPA said that it will confirm the status of the Europe expo by Monday, June 15. Meanwhile, IAAPA has been surveying past attendees about their plans to attend the Orlando expo in November.
