The Walt Disney World Resort might be closed to the public, but that hasn't prevented Disney from keeping busy in Central Florida. One of Disney's companies just bought another chunk of land next to the resort.
Orange County records show that Disney's Celebration Co. yesterday purchased 26.3 acres of land for $1.05 million from Lake Reedy Development Group LLC. The land is located on the western of Disney World property, on the southeast shore of Reedy Lake. (Thanks to reader Dan for the tip.) Here's a Google Map of the area:
Disney bought 235 acres in the same area late last year, with additional land purchases around the resort of more than 1,500 acres early last year and a 900-some acres in late 2018.
Just because Disney is buying land does not mean that the company has immediate plans to develop it. Disney could use newly purchased empty land for conservation or easement purposes, allowing it to develop more acres closer to its existing development at the resort.
Disney has acquired and sold thousands of acres in and around the Walt Disney World Resort over the years, most notably selling the town of Celebration in 2004.
TweetThose four were the ones I remembered.
Wait, FOUR TIMES!?
