Organizers of this year's world's fair have announced that they will negotiate a delay in "the world's greatest show" until next year.
Expo 2020 Dubai was supposed to start this fall, but "many countries have been significantly impacted by Covid-19 and they have therefore expressed a need to postpone the opening of Expo 2020 Dubai by one year," the director general at Expo 2020 Dubai said in a statement released today.
"The UAE and Expo 2020 Dubai have listened," the statement continued. Organizers now will work with the Bureau International des Expositions to determine a new date in 2021.
Originally scheduled to run for 173 days, the expo was set to welcome 192 county pavilions, including a United States pavilion developed by Thinkwell Group. The event will feature three themed zones, abundant live entertainment and even a Hyperloop transportation system.
