We're just about to board a plane for Orlando for a preview of Universal Orlando's annual Mardi Gras, and the resort is whetting our appetite with news about the new food and drinks that fans can enjoy at Universal Studios Florida for this year's festival.
It's the 25th anniversary for Universal's annual winter/spring event, and the resort is expanding its menu with an international line-up of new food that changes every two weeks. Traditional New Orleans favorites including jambalaya, shrimp gumbo, crab étouffée, red beans & rice, gator bites, po'boys, king cake, and beignets return to The French Quarter Courtyard throughout the festival, which runs from this Saturday through April 2. And they will be joined this year by a rotating menu of international dishes.

In addition, Schwab's Pharmacy will be serving three "Float Floats," inspired by the daily Mardi Gras parade (above). The Toothsome Chocolate Emporium & Savory Feast Kitchen also will get in the spirit with The French Quarter milkshake that includes king cake, cream cheese crema and pastry cream topped with king cake and a beignet, and Voodoo Doughnut will have a special Mardi Gras doughnut filled with cinnamon sugar Bavarian cream and topped with vanilla glaze in Mardi Gras colors.
