Knott's Berry Farm. Honoring Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the rest of the gang, the event features special Peanuts-themed entertainment and food, running weekends through March 1 as well as on February 10, 14, and 17.
Knott's annual Peanuts Celebration kicked off today atNew this year at the festival is the "Happiness Is..." musical revue at the Calico Mine Stage, which performs twice daily.
In the evenings, the Calico Mine Stage hosts the Woodstock's Music Festival show, and the Space Beagle show also returns to the Camp Snoopy Theatre. For more interactive productions, the kids can join Linus and Franklin to play along during the Peanuts Cowboy Jamboree in Calico Park and in the evening, Snoopy's brother Spike hosts the Discoteca de Silencio (Silent Disco) in Fiesta Village from 5pm until park closing. It's a dance party where you hear the music through headphones.
But my favorite interactive production at Knott's Peanuts Celebration is (as you might have guessed if you know me)... the Peanuts Sketch School at the Bird Cage Theatre.
Former The Simpsons animator Noel Cox leads the best animation class in town during the Peanuts Celebration. Granted, the Peanuts characters are the simplest and easiest to draw of all the various characters you can learn at Disney, Universal, and Knott's. But Noel takes that opportunity to talk more about the principles of animation and the history of the Peanuts characters while he leads the audience through the steps of drawing the character. And the characters change at each show, rewarding fans for coming back.
In addition to the shows, you can meet the Peanuts characters in Camp Snoopy or try out some of the many photo ops at the park's entrance. Pig Pen greets visitors back in the Livery Stable in Ghost Town, too.
If you get hungry during the Peanuts Celebration, Knott's is offering plenty of Peanuts-themed treats, including Nutella-filled Charlie Brown Macarons in the Ghost Town Bakery and Everything Peanut and Butterscotch Blondie Shakes at Coasters Diner.
And on the savory side... pizza fries! They are available at Papa Loca in Fiesta Village [10.50].
Or go for the Dilly Dilly Dog [$10], a hot dog inside a dill pickle, fried in corn dog batter, all on a stick. You will find it at Strictly-On-A-Stick in Calico Park.
Forget the Great Pumpkin. The Peanuts-themed miracle we will receive instead shall be... a pickle-stuff corn dog. Come on, say it with me now...
Good grief! (Sorry, I just could not resist.)
