Mythos Restaurant at Universal Orlando's Islands of Adventure is your pick.
Our next Theme Park Insider Award category for 2020 is Best Table Service Restaurant, and, once again,Mythos repeats as our restaurant champion, winning the award for the seventh time last year after its 2003-2008 run dominating this category. One of the last remaining locations in the Lost Continent land from which Universal crafted The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Hogsmeade, Mythos soon will have a prime spot overlooking Universal's I-can't-believe-they-still-haven't-announced-it Velocicoaster, too. But even that sight won't distract many fans from the yummy food on their plates.
Featuring a Mediterranean-inspired menu, Mythos serves lamb, beef, pork, and fish entrees, along with a risotto and souvlaki couscous bowl. You also will find a traditional and lamb burgers and a "Fork, Knife and Spoon" grilled cheese on the menu. Most dishes range around $20, though the lamb chops come in at $36. Still, it's a relative bargain by theme park standards, both for price and quality of the meal. And that's why Theme Park Insider fans keep rating up this restaurant, year after year.
The honorable mentions in this category for 2020 are the Carthay Circle Restaurant at Disney California Adventure, Jungle Navigation Company Skipper Canteen at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, and Epcot's Via Napoli.
The Theme Park Insider Awards continue tomorrow with the presentation of our award for Best New Roller Coaster. And for tickets to Universal Orlando's theme parks, please visit the Universal Orlando tickets page from our travel partner.
2020 Theme Park Insider Awards:
About Theme Park Insider: Theme Park Insider is a consumer's guide to the world's best theme park resorts, reaching more than five million unique readers via its website annually and winning multiple honors for its reporting, including from the Online Journalism Association and the Webby Awards. Winners of the Theme Park Insider Awards are those locations that received the highest average reader rating, with a minimum number of votes, in their categories over the past year.
TweetHagrid's Magical Mayhem Motorcyle Mania (or whatever it's called) is almost certain to win its category. And how could it not? It had what, a 9-hour wait time when it opened?
Universal Orlando really is cleaning up this year, though I still am not a fan of Portofino Bay, and have yet to dine at Mythos. I really need to correct that oversight.
Universal FTW!
Seriously though, Mythos is a fantastic dining experience and I smile each time I see the TPI banner overhead going into the restaurant. It is nice to participate in this site and fun to see mention of it directly in the park!
My vote will always go to San Angel Inn. Free chips and salsa in a theme park? What a miracle!
I know I'm in the minority on this one, though.
The last time I was there was 2 years ago, the food was fine, the theme stunning and the service dreadful. I hope the service has improved because it was the main reason to never visit it again.
When I visited 3 years ago I thought the food was fine and the prices very reasonable.
It is sad that this is already way above the norm for a theme park. I really wish the standards for dining at a reasonable price would increase in the future in theme parks.
