The Walt Disney World Resort this afternoon updated its operating hours for Tuesday,Disney's Animal Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios will close at 2pm on Tuesday, September 3, while the Magic Kingdom will close at 3pm, as the resort prepares for the arrival of Hurricane Dorian. *Update: After originally announcing a 3pm close for Epcot, Disney decided Tuesday afternoon to keep that park open up 7pm. Disney Springs now will close at 8pm.
The National Hurricane Center's latest forecast has moved the storm's path to the east, removing the Orlando area from the "cone of uncertainty." However, tropical storm-force winds are still possible in the Orlando area as the hurricane moves up the Atlantic coast. The storm's center is expected to be due east of Orlando shortly after midnight early Wednesday, though the eye will be many miles offshore.
The Orlando International Airport announced this afternoon that it will close the airport to all flights starting at 2am Tuesday, which means that all flights into or out of the airport tomorrow should be cancelled. Both the airport and the parks are expected to remain closed until the storm moves through the area Wednesday.
Update: SeaWorld and Aquatica will be closed all day on Tuesday, as will Volcano Bay at Universal. Here is Universal Orlando’s statement on its operations:
We continue to closely monitoring the weather. At this time, Universal Studios Florida, Universal’s Islands of Adventure and Universal’s CityWalk will open as scheduled on Tuesday, Sept. 3, however, Universal’s Volcano Bay Water Theme Park will be closed. It looks like Osceola County forced WDW to close with its mandatory curfew. The east part of Osceola County *may* get the side of the storm but no indicators show that Disney is going to get hit by the hurricane.
