Universal Studios is planning to blow things up to celebrate Independence Day at its Florida and Hollywood theme parks this year.
Universal Studios Hollywood today announced its first-ever July 4th fireworks spectacular, as part of its inaugural Salute to the Stars and Stripes event this year. The fireworks show will kick off at 9:30pm, with pyro firing from multiple locations around the park. The park also will be running its Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle show that night, giving fans two nighttime spectaculars to enjoy.
The event is included with park admission, but Silver and California Neighbor annual passes will be blacked out on July 4.
On the east coast, Universal Orlando is expanding its Fourth of July celebration into a three-day event, running from July 4 through the 6th this year. Universal Studios Florida is also doubling up its nighttime spectaculars, with a Fourth of July fireworks show over the Music Plaza at 9pm, followed by Universal Orlando's Cinematic Celebration at 9:45pm in Central Park.
Universal will get the party going at 5pm each night in the Music Plaza, with concerts by Raydio and sets with DJ M-Squared. If you get hungry during the shows, you order food from the nearby Classic Monsters Cafe to be delivered to you in the Music Plaza, by using Universal Orlando's official app.

Nice to see that Universal Orlando is doing something (anything) now for the 4th of July. In the past, it was literally red, white and blue bunting hanging up around Citywalk and that was it.
