Sometimes, the really good stuff lies buried deep in a theme park's press release.
Take this morning's news dump from Disney. It offered a notice that Disney is offering "limited-release Mickey Mouse ear hats and Minnie Mouse ear headbands."
Yawn.
I understand that many Disney fans jump on every new offering from the parks, filling their homes with Disney's collectibles. But I value experiences over stuff and would rather spend my money on park visits than souvenirs. Everyone's different, though, with different needs and priorities, so I respect those differences enough to keep reading this particular press release...
...which went on to announce "forthcoming designs by Disney Imagineers such as Kim Irvine, Kevin Rafferty and Joe Rhode."
What did I say about not liking stuff? Forget that!
(Hey, I just realized that after the Fox deal this is a Disney meme now. Perfect!)
The new Disney Parks Designer Collection launches on May 24 with a design from Harveys. Other designers and celebrities creating ears for the new line include Vera Wang, Coach, Betsey Johnson, and Heidi Klum.
Plus those Imagineers whose stuff I really want, of course.
No word on prices yet, but the designs will be available at the Disney Dress Shop, Disneyana, and Off the Page at the Disneyland Resort, and at Ever After Jewelry Co. & Accessories, MouseGear, Uptown Jewelers, Once Upon a Time, and Discovery Trading Company at the Walt Disney World Resort, as well as online at ShopDisney.com/Disney-Parks-Designer-Collection.
