Are ready to go back in time at Knott's Berry Farm?
The Buena Park, California theme park announced today that its redesigned Calico River Rapids will open May 17. The former Bigfoot Rapids ride has been given a complete makeover, with new animatronics, decorations... and a fresh backstory about the origins of the "Ghost Town" community of Calico at the heart of Knott's Berry Farm.
Here is the park's behind-the-scenes video with the team at Garner Holt that has been creating the ride's new look.
Calico River Rapids is designed to complement Garner Holt's previous attraction revamps for Knott's, including the Timber Mountain Log Ride and Calico Mine Ride. I rode the Calico Mine Train recently, the animatronics have a lot of movement, but seemed a little jerky, I was trying to decide whether the jerkiness was intended and was actually natural for the movement or not...Does anyone know whether Garner Holt did the animatronics for Galaxy's Edge?
All the recent additions/revamps have me wanting to get out for a visit! That'll be a good activity to tide me over until Galaxy's Edge dies down.
