In a special cast-members-only event tonight, the Disneyland Resort revealed the costumes that cast members will be wearing this summer when Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opens. These apparently also will be the costumes worn at the Walt Disney World Resort's installation of the new Star Wars land when it opens at Disney's Hollywood Studios later in the fall.
While we await some official photos and a public announcement about the costumes from Disney, here are some of the better posts from cast members' social media.

Here’s a first look at the costumes that cast members will wear inside #StarWars: #GalaxysEdge at #Disneyland and #WDW pic.twitter.com/yB7M2q3z2x

David Miller of Disneyland Resort Entertainment explained that many of the costumes feature mix and match, with four different base tops and five different bottoms, that can be further accessorized with vests, coats, hats, and scarves, allowing cast members to create individual, custom looks within the overall look of the land.
And cast members within the Black Spire Outpost (the setting for Galaxy's Edge) will be getting custom nametags that will include the cast members name in Aurebesh.
Here’s a look at an official name tag that #StarWars: #GalaxysEdge cast members at #Disneyland and #WDW will wear, too. The name will be printed in English and Aurebesh. pic.twitter.com/jbbGEdZ5le

The baddies always get the best costumes. Sigh.
Woof. I knew this event was a joke but didn’t expect the Falcon costumes to look like parking attendants. At least the costumes for Resistance confirm all the rumors for the ride.
OUTSTANDING! Less than four months before the themed entertainment industry witnesses a tsunami of a game changer!
What also has quietly gone out was a video of ILM working on a porg virtual reality simulation where you have your own porg as a pet. In a one sentence throw off in the video, they mention that it has implications in theme parks. It is the same team that worked on the sim for the Void. Wonder if that might be something they are planning for the hotel. If so, it seems to be why they were surveying the cost of the hotel so high.
While I can see how some would dislike the resistance costumes (and the Star Tours costumes are awful), I would say wait until they are in action. It may be they really play to a theme, which is hidden in plain sight. But I will say if they are going to go all out and match Potter, they are going to have to have cast members in alien costumes as well.
When are the rides going to be open?
AM: "When are the rides going to be open?:
I Respond: Maybe Jim Hill can tell you.
(Chuckle)
Just kidding. Whenever they open it will have been worth the wait.
These look great. I'm just always curious to know how functional they will be and how they will wear when working in the stiffening heat and humidity in Florida. They also remind me a great deal of some of the costumes worn at Animal Kingdom. I'd actually be very curious to see a side by side comparison of what the DAK cast wore on opening day and what is still in use today.
Does anyone have any photos that compare what has changed in 20 years?
I followed several livestreams from cast members last night, and the Disney reps talked a lot about the different fabrics in the base layer options, which were designed to accommodate a variety of temperatures.
But having worked summers at Disney World - when we ditched as many costume elements as we could get away with - yeah, I would expect simpler looks to evolve pretty quickly here.
I think these look pretty good. They are understated (like many of the wardrobe options in the films)
They won't draw any attention & seems like they will blend in pretty well with the environment.
@Gabriel. There's a chance of confusion, but I think most of the cast members will be stationed at a particular post. They are certainly "less" flashy than some other lands / attractions fashion choices, but they do still feel "Star Wars".

I might already have clothes that could mistake me for a cast member. I wonder if this will cause any confusion, as the group photo could almost pass for legitimate guest wear.
I believe the guy second from the left in the group photo is misplaced. Isn't that Woody from Toy Story?
