Continuing our look at 10 anticipated new attractions in 2019, we head outside the United States for Hong Kong Disneyland's next step toward creating its own Marvel-themed land, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!.
This retheme of the park's Buzz Lightyear shooter ride will shrink riders to do battle alongside Marvel's smallest heroes, Ant-Man and The Wasp. Disney has not yet announced a specific opening date for the ride, which will join Iron Man Experience and an upcoming new Avengers-themed ride as the foundation of the park's Marvel-themed offshoot of Tomorrowland.
Here is Disney's hype video for the ride, featuring Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly, who star as Ant-Man and The Wasp in the Marvel films.
With its conceit of shrinking riders at the start of the ride, Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle! delivers an "Adventure Through Inner Space" vibe that should make long-time Disneyland fans jealous. If Disney won't officially retcon this, I am declaring it as fan canon now that Hank Pym designed the Monsanto Mighty Microscope as the first commercial application of his "Pym particle" technology.
C'mon, that just makes sense now, doesn't it?
