When will World of Color return to Disney California Adventure?
Despite what you might have read recently online, the answer remains "no one knows." A Disneyland spokesperson confirmed to my colleagues over at the Orange County Register that the nighttime lagoon show will not return until sometime next year.
"We know our guests love World of Color and we have been working diligently to bring this experience back as soon as we can. We are hopeful the show will return in the next several months," the Disneyland spokesperson told the Register.
World of Color went down for scheduled refurbishment back in April, when Disney was transforming the old Paradise Pier into the new Pixar Pier land. The plan was for the show to return when Pixar Pier opened in late June.
But just before the reimagined land opened, Disney canceled World of Color's return. Cast members have spoken about damage to the show's fountain and lighting platform during the Pixar Pier construction project, but Disney has yet to confirm anything about what has delayed the show's return.
At first, Disney said that it hoped to have the show back by the end of 2018, but when the resort announced its holiday entertainment without including World of Color, it became apparent that the show might not meet that deadline.
Now Disney has announced its entertainment for the upcoming Lunar New Year celebration and there's no mention of World of Color in that, either, despite the "Hurry Home" prelude to the show being part of that event for the past couple of years.
That hasn't stopped some sources from reporting during the past month that a return of the show was imminent. Sorry, but... nope. Not happening. So, for now, the only place you will be able to watch World of Color's holiday show is online.
