If you've ever visited the Enchanted Tiki Room at Disneyland to its sibling Tropical Serenade at Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom, you might remember what has becoming an enduring gag among Disney fans — Jose's question, "whatever happened to Rosita?"
Rumored answers over the years have ranged from a dark fate as the feathers atop a ladies' hat (referencing another song lyric in the show), to supposed sightings in shops and attractions all over the park. But now Disney is providing an official answer. Rosita bailed from the "bird mobile" in the Tiki Room and is perched next door at Disneyland's soon-to-open Tropical Hideaway.
The quick service restaurant is taking over the space formerly occupied by Aladdin's Oasis, in between the Tiki Room and the Jungle Cruise dock. An animatronic Rosita will perch next to that dock, greeting diners with "a repertoire of jokes and one-liners that would make any Jungle Cruise Skipper proud!" according to Disney's press release.
No word yet on the restaurant's official opening date, other than it will debut sometime before the end of the year. But it's nice to know, after all these years, whatever happened to Rosita.
TweetMine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine, mine...
Absolutely, Kenny.
This is 10/10 fan service. And now, after all those countless hours listening to those birds as a Tiki Room host, it's nice finally to have the answer that will one day allow me to die in peace. (LOL)
Park as a platform! Entertainment and attractions as guests move through the parks. Love it!
Okay, this is just a genius touch that recalls the old-school fun of Imagineering. I can't wait to see it.
I just really hope this is driven by a live performer like the Mystic Fountain at IOA or Turtle Talk with Crush and not a recorded show.

We might lose the Eastern Gateway project, and 4th hotel, but gosh darnit, we finally get an answer to the age-old question of where Rosita went!
Reminds me when WDW had the 3 heads from Country Bear Jamboree hanging at the Mile Long Bar where the show exited at that time. Great immersion.

While obviously the final product cannot be judged yet, I like this as a concept. Not only will we finally know what happened to Rosita, but it's a nice throwback to the concept of the Barker Bird.
