Efteling has pushed back to 2021 its big planned expansion to the east of the park, but in the meantime it will offer a new family coaster.
The Dutch theme park previously had announced a 20-acre expansion, near the Efteling Hotel, that would feature a major new attraction for 2020. Today's announcement reveals the delay of that project's opening for one year. Instead, Efteling's new ride for 2020 will be Max & Moritz, a Mack Rides dual-track family coaster, themed to an 1865 illustrated German story about two naughty boys.
The new coaster will take over the space currently occupied by Bobbaan, the park's Bobsled-style ride. That ride will reopen on October 11 and remain open until construction begins on the new coaster next September. That gives fans one more year to experience "Bob"'s now somewhat rare Intamin Swiss Bob track.
The €15 million new coaster will retain the Swiss theming and station building from Bob, which opened in 1985.

A bit disappointed, I never was a fan of this ride but it was unique. The replacement looks very generic. That said I'm intrigued about the story although I'd rather have a story that was known in The Netherlands.
