Celebrity chef Guy Fieri is launching a new fast-casual restaurant concept with Chicken Guy!, which will open next month in Walt Disney World's Disney Springs shopping center.
Fieri, best known for his Food Network shows, recently took over the menu at Disney Spring's refurbished Planet Hollywood restaurant. Planet Hollywood Founder and Chairman Robert Earl will be Fieri's partner in the new concept, which will feature chicken tenders.
The tenders will be served straight up with dipping sauces, in sandwiches, and on salads. The chicken will be "brined in fresh lemon juice, pickle brine and buttermilk, and infused with fresh herbs" and "hand-pounded to maximize crunch," according to a Disney press release.
Desserts on the menu will be two of Fieri's Flavortown Frozen Treats:
The first Chicken Guy! will open in Disney Springs next Planet Hollywood in August.
TweetLet's hope it's a worthy addition to the Disney Springs lineup of food options...but I'll wait until I see sone reviews. The concept isn't very exciting. Seeing Guy's name in this reminds me of an old Anthony Bourdain remark... "He dresses like the son in high school play".

Uh oh...No you didn't!!! (Waiting for TH)
Anyway, Guy Fieri doesn't grate me as much as some (his Triple D show is a great way to find out about hidden gems in other cities that are typically cheap places to fill up). However, I don't think this concept will really differentiate itself at Disney Springs. I haven't been to Homecoming yet, but I've heard that it has some of the best fried chicken anywhere. While it's not a quick serve restaurant, I think if Disney really wanted a quick service chicken restaurant, they would have been better off creating a takeout counter for Homecoming (like they have for Raglan Road) instead of trying to establish a new brand (or perhaps using another established, yet niche, chicken brand like Gus's, Lee's, or even something a little more well known like Raisin' Cain's or Zaxby's). Paying the extra money to Fieri is not going to make this place any more popular than it would have been under a generic name or another established chain. I know Disney wants to separate the eateries at DS from a standard mall, so a big chain like Popeyes, KFC, or Chick fil-a would not fit their image, but I also don't think Fieri adds anything special to a quick service chicken strip restaurant.
This looks great! I'm super excited for these chicken tenders.
If its anything like his restaurant food in Baltimore, I'd pass
Sounds great to me. I’m definitely going to be checking it out. Probably will eat there once as Disney Springs charges too much compared to most places.

No, No, No, No, No. I'll not be surprised if I am on my on in this, but I can't stand this gu...uhm, "Guy." I blame him for single-handly ruining Food Network. I hope he does not do the same to Walt Disney World. Sound extreme - perhaps, but I hate him that much.
