The announcement came under the headline "Countdown to 2016" and promised "exciting news about the much-anticipated 2016 arrival of 'The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.'" The announcement will happen at 10am PT (1pm ET) on June 2, on Universal Studios Hollywood's YouTube page. Perhaps we will get a more specific opening date, or maybe confirmation of the land's lineup?
Hollywood's version of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter will be based on the village of Hogsmeade now found at Universal's Islands of Adventure in Orlando and at Universal Studios Japan. Like Japan's version, it will not include the Dragon Challenge inverted coaster, but it will include the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride found at both parks. A Three Broomsticks restaurant is also expected, along with a collection of retail outlets.
Universal is previewing Wizarding World merchandise to annual passholders later this week. We will be at the park Thursday morning for that preview, and file a full report later in the day.
