2015 Coaster Vote Final: The Most Anticipated New Coaster of the Year

March 29, 2015, 3:29 PM · A little more than a week ago, we asked you to vote on the new roller coaster you're most looking forward to ride in 2015. We selected five candidates for the poll that we thought would be among the most popular new coasters in the country. However, you told us that five were not enough. Fans of some of the other great new coasters coming this year demand the opportunity to vote for their favorite, so we added a second vote.

Now, in the tradition of the annual Theme Park Insider Tournaments we started back in 2008, we are putting the champions of our two votes last week up against each other for the overall "most anticipated new coaster" crown.

Ultimately, your votes told us that you are really, really looking forward to riding a new Rocky Mountain Construction steel re-tracked wooden coaster this year, because that is what both of our winners will be. Your final candidates are:

Twisted Colossus
Six Flags Magic Mountain

Wicked Cyclone
Six Flags New England

Thank you to our friends at both parks, as well as at all the other parks in this competition, for getting out the vote. Now let's do it again, and let the most anticipated new coaster of 2015 win!

That uniqueness is what kind of fascinates me about it I suppose. Most coasters seem done before, but the whole turning a racing coaster into one long coaster and combining that with this new type of track.... It's maybe a first time this has happened that I know of. And the concept of being able to ride both sides in one ride is pretty neat (and that first section of track even before the first lift hill..... my favorite part of the ride just because coasters rarely start off cool like that).
March 29, 2015 at 11:01 PM · Twisted Colossus seems to have a pretty decent ride length, so it got my vote.
March 30, 2015 at 7:25 AM · Wicked Cyclone seems so epic, and the park keeps making the layout even more wild! Definitely getting my vote.
March 30, 2015 at 8:08 AM · Both are gonna be world class rides but Wicked Cyclone is much better. It has a more complete layout with tons of airtime, overbanked turns, and inversions. It just feels like a more complete experience. Twisted Colossus feels more gimmicky to me, but it will still be amazing. But overall Wicked Cyclone is the best.
March 30, 2015 at 8:25 AM · Wicked Cyclone for me ! Not only for my home park, but between the two Wicked Cyclone isn't going to let up and thats what I love about a coaster along with the mix of elements ! Twisted Colossus got almost half of its track length cut out and it seems TC isn't a constant non letting up type of ride. While it has some cool elements and races , I still think Wicked Cyclone is the sleeper hit for 2015 ! Do not sleep on this Coaster its going to WOW and amaze ! - Josh
March 30, 2015 at 1:59 PM · This is a very tough one since both coasters look outstanding, but I have to go with Twisted Colossus. While Wicked Cyclone does look very good (and probably more intense), it isn't significantly different from the existing RMC coasters. Twisted Colossus, on the other hand, is completely unique and contains elements that have never been attempted before. Plus I'm certain I'll be riding Twisted Colossus this year while I'm not likely to get back to SFNE for some time.
March 30, 2015 at 2:18 PM · OMG no the twisted one is losing to half!
March 30, 2015 at 5:24 PM · Wicked Cyclone is getting my vote. The theming elements and the outerbank turns are going to be nothing short of epic. Plus they've made some design changes since the creation of the video and it's all for the better.
March 30, 2015 at 5:51 PM · Wicked Cyclone all the way! It has more airtime, elements, and don't forget theming. Twisted Colossus does have the better drop I have to admit but with the space they had to use with Wicked Cyclone they packed way more stuff into it. Take Iron Rattler for example. Better drop like Twisted but gets slow towards end. Wicked Cyclone is non stop, no brakes and didn't demolish half the ride like what they did with Colossus. It has 14 airtime hills how many does Twisted Colossus have, not including the green side. Let me think....maybe 4 or 5. Inversions: WC 3 VS. TC 2
Airtime: WC 14 Vs TC 10
Banked turns: WC 8 VS. TC 3
Its the elements ladies and Gents not the stats.
March 30, 2015 at 7:22 PM · Wicked Cyclone may have a shorter ride length but Twisted Colossus doesn't come close to the intensity you'll feel on WC!
March 30, 2015 at 10:47 PM · Twisted Colossus is by far the better coaster!
March 31, 2015 at 4:56 AM · The pacing on Wicked Cyclone looks amazing! The ride is so jam packed with elements, you don't have time to catch your breath until you hit the break run. Twisted Colossus looks cool, and deserves to be in this poll, but it will not have the same excitement that Wicked Cyclone has. For that reason Wicked Cyclone has my vote hands down (or up). I hope I get the chance to get out there this summer, there's no new coaster I want to get on more than this airtime machine.
March 31, 2015 at 4:36 PM · Wicked Cyclone for sure!
March 31, 2015 at 5:23 PM · Wicked Cyclone looks like the old Cyclone with a couple of loops. Hope it's better, the old Cyclone beat you up, I stopped riding it. Hopefully I'll get to ride both this year.
March 31, 2015 at 6:55 PM · They bot look cool, I am looking forward to riding both
March 31, 2015 at 7:09 PM · Twisted colossus seems to have a decent ride length time, looks awesome and also looks like something that hasnt been done before, so it got my vote
March 31, 2015 at 8:42 PM · Wow ,are you people blind. TC is way better. Wicked looks okay but just side to side action. Boring. You people better look at the videos again. TC got my vote.
March 31, 2015 at 8:42 PM · Twisted, baby! The ride time alone. And whoever thought of combining the two racing tracks into one long deserves the Nobel Peace Prize! I go every few weeks to monitor the construction progress, and being a SoCal native, it's AMAZING to see the brilliance they've created with modern tech while respecting and maintaining the original structure. COASTERS, BABY!!!!!!!!!
March 31, 2015 at 8:51 PM · Wicked Cyclone just looks like the old Colossus with a couple of corkscrews added in.. Twisted Colossus is more innovative and wins hands down or shall I say "Hands Up".
March 31, 2015 at 9:54 PM · Twisted Colossus got my vote! Nothing can beat what they're doing to transform an iconic wooden coaster into something even better. That one long inversion, with only lap bars and a seatbelt? I think yes!
March 31, 2015 at 10:40 PM · Cant wait to try Twisted Colossus
April 1, 2015 at 12:17 AM · Twisted Colossus is going to pack in a few BIG punches we're not even aware of yet!
April 1, 2015 at 4:43 AM · I may buy a season pass this year,so i can ride this ride
April 1, 2015 at 1:05 PM · They cut half of Colossus's old structure down and left almost all Cyclone's up so I don't know how you can say "They've created with modern technology while respecting and maintaining the original structure" Ya right! I really don't see how it's innovative it won't even be dueling it's really just a 1 minute ride you get to ride twice. Wicked Cyclone has way more airtime and over banked turns and more inversions. So much better theming too. Twisted Colossus to me is just you going on a coaster in a circle twice. Wicked Cyclone you go around 4 times. You people are basing it off of size and speed and the drops. OOOOOOOOOO AWWWWWWW they combined the tracks. "INNOVATIVE, UNIQUE, HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!" All they did was move the track over by a few feet it's not that big of a deal
April 1, 2015 at 5:43 PM · Oh my god the twisted of course this is definitely a must try
April 2, 2015 at 7:08 AM · Wicked Cyclone! The reason is the opening sequence mimics the original one which in it's original configuration was the most intimidating of any coaster. Wicked will be even more intense and intimidating. It will be a total rush with no recoup time till the brakes.
April 2, 2015 at 9:15 AM · i feel that the wicked cyclone would be the same
April 2, 2015 at 3:25 PM · Wicked cyclone is going to be opening on memorial day.
April 2, 2015 at 3:50 PM · Wicked Cyclone is by far the better coaster. More intense, more airtime, and an extra inversion, not to mention better theming. It has elements that have never been done before, like a 200 degree stall or TWO outward banking hills. TC just seems like its: drop, high five, inversion, done. The end seems too bland. It seems too repetive. WC will be better, and it got my vote. I am so excited to ride this next year!
April 2, 2015 at 4:11 PM · Both have potential to be the best coasters in the world. Twisted colossus is one you take your woman on for a great time. Wc is one you take your die hard coaster buddy on to experience the intensity.
April 2, 2015 at 4:43 PM · When the designer for both rides says that Wicked Cyclone is their best one yet, I think we can take his word. Vote for Wicked Cyclone!
April 2, 2015 at 5:17 PM · Definitely Wicked Cyclone! It's just element after element after element!
April 3, 2015 at 11:46 AM · Yess thevwicked cyclone

April 5, 2015 at 12:43 AM · Twisted colossus all the way!!
