The new land is themed to an "1880s volunteer recruitment fair," according to the park's press release. More than half a dozen carnival-style rides plus several play areas are themed to "training adventures" for young would-be firefighters and their families. The highlights include Station No. 3 Firehouse Play Place, pictured above, which houses several play areas, including foam-ball cannons, obstacle courses, and a soft play area for toddlers, and FireFall, an 80-foot free-fall drop ride.
The park notes that this new land has an historical connection to the site, as the 1880s town of Marmaros, once located where the park now stands, was destroyed by fire more than a century ago. In a sense, the new attraction plays tribute to what might have been, if only there really had been a volunteer firefighter recruitment fair on the site way back when.
Fireman's Landing opens this weekend, as Silver Dollar City begins its 2015 season.
