After several years of focusing on its Splashin' Safari water park, Holiday World returns its attention to the theme park side of its operation, with its first new ride on that side in several years. And a Mayflower-themed swinging ship ride next to The Voyage roller coaster seems about as obvious match as one can imagine. Here's the park's promotional video, with another nice little announcement at the end.
If you didn't watch, Holiday World's also announced the addition of Friday night fireworks in the park for the 2014 season.
Not exactly a new ride concept, but it makes total sense for the Thanksgiving area of the park. I love Holiday World and live very close. As one of the occasional contributors here on TPI, I hope to send in a report covering Holiday World's Halloween Weekends. It's only their second year hosting a Halloween event, but it looks like a pretty cool, family oriented event. Stay tuned!

This announcement is a poster child for "meh". Sure, it makes sense, but swinging ship rides are just so...so... common. Even the simulated riders in the video look bored. I guess we just have to resign ourselves to the fact that HW is never going to add an adult steel coaster to the park. *Sigh*.
As much as I love a swinging ship... Was this even worthy of a press release on its own? Its a standard flat right found just about everywhere.
Dont get me wrong, its a very pretty example of one, but nothing notable.

I really want to get back there. I loved the place on my two-day visit in 2007..the only time I've been there. But this addition will assuredly not draw me there like flies to honey.
