NBC stations to air Universal Hollywood/King Kong special this weekend

June 11, 2010, 4:14 PM · After last week's half-hour NBC special featuring the new Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando, this week several NBC stations will be featuring… a half-hour special on the making of the new King Kong 360/3D encounter at Universal Studios Hollywood.

The folks at NBC Universal really seem to have caught the cross-promotional bug, haven't they?

Here's the schedule for this weekend's broadcasts: (All broadcasts will be on the local NBC affiliate.)

Saturday
2:30pm in Washington, DC
5pm in Los Angeles
6:30pm in Dallas and San Diego
7pm in New York
7:30pm in Hartford, CT

Sunday
2:30pm in Philadelphia

Colin Hanks will host the show, which also will feature Kong director Peter Jackson. Universal promises additional broadcasts in other markets in upcoming weeks.

Universal also announced today that the media preview for Kong will be Tuesday, June 29. (Yes, I'll be there to cover for us!)

June 11, 2010 at 9:57 PM · If you're not in one of these cities, I'd still check your local NBC station's schedule on weekend afternoons and early evenings. It sounds like the network's trying to clear (or buy) time for the show, so it might show up without much notice.

Please post if you do find it on your local schedule, though.

June 12, 2010 at 1:58 PM · In Chicago, it airs on channel 5 on Saturday June 19 at 1:00 p.m.
June 13, 2010 at 3:05 PM · Can somebody post online or something? This is so stupid that they post in certain special areas, as if only people from these cities are the only ones who visit Universal. Why don't they air this as a special like Harry Potter?
June 14, 2010 at 4:56 AM · i wont get to see it either being in the UK just like i didnt get to see the Harry Potter one, am looking forward to your coverage of the media day Robert!
