A while ago I made a thread about the Mach rides "rocking boat", a boat ride with a working prototype and would make a great Jaws ride.
Now I discover the S&S Axis model, which you have to see for yourselves. From the same people who made the Free spin (known as Joker in many six flags parks) and I'm pretty sure the X2 fourth dimension coasters, we have a ride that spins on a whole new, well, Axis. While other coasters spin and roll, this one twists itself so that it can effortlessly switch between an inverted coaster and a classic one. See it for yourselves. Really.
Now I thought this would make a perfect Top Gun coaster, but take my opinion with a grain of salt. What do you guys think about the Axis and what do you think it could be used for?
The Axis Coaster has been teased by S&S for a number of years (pre-pandemic if I recall), so aside from the reported prototype going in Saudi Arabia, I would not get too excited. TBH, S&S hasn't had the greatest track record of late with Steel Curtain having to go through a redesign because the forces of the train were literally tearing the structure apart, the removal of Dododonpa and Hypersonic XLC, and the various legacy Arrow coasters being removed and support no longer being provided.
I'd probably wait until Transformers starts testing before getting excited about Axis, because I just don't see a "real" theme park taking a chance on this design until it is proven.
