Wait times for Disney's Animal Kingdom
Walt Disney World: We really need some help with this one.
We're continuing our project to record relative wait times for attractions at the Orlando theme parks. Today, it's Disney's Animal Kingdom. (I explain what we're doing in the threads about wait times in
The Magic Kingdom,
Epcot and
Disney's Hollywood Studios.)
I'm not bothering with wait times for any of the walk-through trails in the park, just for the rides and shows. This is the park I'm most uncertain about, so please jump into the comments with your suggestions. Thank you!
Discovery Island
It's Tough to be a Bug! - Shorter
Camp Minnie-Mickey
Festival of the Lion King - Longer
Africa
Kilimanjaro Safaris - Average Longer
Rafiki's Planet Watch
Wildlife Express Train - Shorter
Asia
Kali River Rapids - Shorter Average
Expedition Everest - Longer
DinoLand USA
Finding Nemo - The Musical - Longer
Primeval Whirl - Average
TriceraTop Spin - Average
Dinosaur - Longer Average
I by no means am an expert here, having only been to DAK once, but when I went, Dinosaur was a walk on and they were only working one of the load platforms and sending cars out half-filled.
Granted that was within 2 hours of opening....
Dinosaur should stay longer. I think kali River Rapids needs to be at least average. In the summer the wait for that is often longer Everest or Safaris.
I would say the Safaris should be longer and Kali should be average. I also think Dinosaur should be average. I never had to wait long!
I also think DAK is tough because of the shows. I understand that Lion King and Nemo are long, but its really not a "line"
Have to agree on Safari being longer - have fastpassed ever since a 90 minute wait.
Another vote for Kilimanjaro Safaris being longer.
I would say that Kali River Rapids is more longer than average.
I feel that Dinosaur should be longer. It's a rarity for me to experience a short/average wait for this ride. The others I agree with!
Let's try this: On average, which is longer? The average wait during the day for Dinosaur, or how early you have to show up to get decent seats for your whole party sitting together for Finding Nemo?
It's sensible that this is the toughest park to gauge. The layout makes it very difficult to get around and, therefore, very difficult to predict crowds. I have witnessed 60-minute lines at Dinosaur in the afternoon, then 5-minute waits an hour later.
Robert, that's a trick question. Which Nemo show? What time of year? What day of the week? They're both finicky but I would have to say it would be smart to assume that Dinosaur has longer lines. My old room mate worked there and his daily report sounded like the lines at least were a little over an hour most of the day. I wouldn't line up more than 35-40 minutes for Nemo.
Okay, then how about Dinosaur versus the carnival rides?
