Walt Disney World has a new home for Mickey Mouse cartoons

February 24, 2020, 1:22 PM · Walt Disney World's newest dark ride opens next week, but Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway isn't the only new attraction that Disney's First Couple will be opening at Disney's Hollywood Studios then.

Also opening on March 4 at the Orlando park will be the reimagined Mickey Shorts Theater — Walt Disney World's home for Mickey Mouse cartoon shorts.

Keeping with the roadtrip theme of the new ride down the street, the theater will show "Vacation Fun," a short that "celebrates Mickey and Minnie’s favorite vacation memories, plus a few new adventures." Even though Disney is promoting this as a new, park-exclusive Mickey Mouse film, it will include clips from several previously-released Mickey Mouse cartoons, including Panda-monium, Couples Sweaters, Potatoland, Croissant de Triomphe, Entombed, Dumb Luck, Al Rojo Vivo, Yodelburg and Outback at Ya!, some of which will be referenced in the Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway ride.

The attraction won't just be a new version of the old Main Street Cinema, however, as it also will feature pop-up-style photo ops inspired by several Mickey shorts, including Yodelburg, Potatoland, Entombed and Panda-monium. (You can find the Mickey shorts on Mickey's YouTube channel, as well as streaming on Disney+.)

I will be at Disney's Hollywood Studios next week for the opening of Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway as well as the Mickey Shorts Theater and will bring you fill coverage here on Theme Park Insider and our social media channels. Stay tuned!

Very nice fill in, great to have an exclusive Mickey short and the photo op as part of the attraction.
Phase 1 of the DHS transformation is almost complete. Can’t wait for Phase 2! (Animation Courtyard/Theater of the Stars/Indiana Jones updates)

Looks good. I'm kind of disappointed that Vacation Fun won't be totally new material, but I'm looking forward to the new ride (and Potatoland photo op!).

I watched a couple of the shorts on Disney plus. They are very funny.
