For those fans who just can't wait another two-plus months for the Halloween events to fire up in mid-September, there's the annual Midsummer Scream event to tide you over. The second annual Southern California Halloween festival is moving to the Long Beach Convention Center this year, running July 29-30.
Of particular interest to theme park fans should be the presentation on "45 Years of Knott’s Scary Farm," featuring early Halloween Haunt legend John Waite, former Knott's Entertainment Design Manager Todd Faux, current Knott’s Berry Farm Vice President of Entertainment Ken Parks, and current Knott’s Scary Farm Design Specialist Jon Cooke.
In addition, Midsummer Scream will host members of the design team for Disney's Twilight Zone Tower of Terror for the presentation "Beyond the Fifth Dimension: Creating The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror."
In addition, Universal Studios Hollywood and Six Flags Magic Mountain will be at the event to reveal Halloween Horror Nights and Fright Fest details, respectively, in addition to reveals from Knott's Scary Farm.
Of course, the event is not focused solely on theme parks, and includes haunts, exhibits, and meet and greets across the entire spectrum of horror entertainment, including films and theater. Tickets start at $26-32 for one day and $48 for the weekend, and are available at http://midsummerscream.org.
