Disney previously invited Walt Disney World annual passholders and Disney Vacation Club members to sign up for early-access previews of the Avatar-themed land during the two weeks leading up to its scheduled official opening on May 27. These additional, as-yet unconfirmed soft openings would happen before that and would be available to any Disney Animal Kingdom visitor on a first-come, first-served basis.
As with any expected soft opening of a new attraction, we would not recommend planning a trip to the park specifically for the new attraction. Soft opens are a test-and-adjust period, not just for rides, but for operations throughout the new land as well. Once someone decides it's time to make those adjustments, the soft open will close to do that. The park's also using the land for promotional production, which will mean keeping the public out for that. All this means limited and unpredictable availability. That's not worth making an extra trip for... unless you're willing to accept that risk.
But if you are one of those fans who just have to be in a new attraction on its first day, those previously announced and now fully booked preview days very well might not be it. Clear your calendars for earlier in the month if you want Pandora before anyone else.
TweetWe'll be there in the Fall, should be the hightlight of our trip.
