New Disney theme park musicals debut in Paris and Tokyo

July 2, 2016, 8:17 PM · A new show, Mickey and the Magician, debuted today at the Walt Disney Studios Park at Disneyland Paris.

The replacement for Animagique follows the well-worn convention of Mickey Mouse's imagination leading us into a review of musical numbers from Disney's animated films. Here's the full show, as recorded by a fan.

At the Tokyo Disney Resort, Out of the Shadow Land officially debuts one week from today in the Hangar Theater in Tokyo DisneySea's Lost River Delta. But the show's already in previews. The original story follows a shy girl as she develops the self-confidence to escape the evil shadow land in which she's been lost. Here's the full show:

I would say it just edges Mickey and the Wondrous Book (HKDL), its sister show, based on production quality - but it's a shame it didn't choose more original songs (you can guess the lineup without even watching the video!). The staging of Friend Like Me is particularly good, kudos to them for not copying the Broadway/London versions.
