In the latest episode of its "The Making of Skull Island Reign of Kong" video series, Creative Director Mike West introduces the animatronic that represents the one true "King" of Skull Island.
"This isn't a movie - it's the real deal," West said. "Close enough that you'll feel his breath sweep across your skin and his thundering roar reverberate through every bone in your body."
Universal's original Kong animatronic was crafted by Disney Legend Bob Gurr and perished in a backlot fire at Universal Studios Hollywood in 2008. A second Kong animatronic, from Universal Studios Florida, was removed when that park's Kongfrontation ride closed in 2002.
Universal Orlando has asked reporters to "save the date" for a media event for Skull Island Reign of Kong on June 22-24. Fans are using the #ChanceofReign hashtag on Twitter to let others know when soft-opening "technical rehearsals" start for the ride.
TweetOn another note, I always liked the look of Kong from the classic 1933 film better than the recent one, which looks more like a gorilla. Somehow the original one looked more distinctive, not like a blown up gorilla that you can see at the zoo.
as for the headache rides at UO I think the Simpsons is about the only one because the roof is too low in the back.
AWSESOME!
But, I want to know...
When will expansion attractions arrive vs replacement attractions? With the 'Skip the Line' pass we're done with everything, at both parks, in one day.
And UO STILL LACKS a nighttime spectacular to keep you late.
The Kong truck has a roof. We'll have to see if the motion is too strong.
I miss that.
As for Kong, I don't watch spoiler videos. Can't wait to ride it next year, though.
