Disney Cruise Line moving Wonder to Los Angeles

March 30, 2009, 2:50 PM · Disney officially announced today that it will move the Disney Wonder cruise ship from Port Canaveral in Florida to the Port of Los Angeles on the west coast in 2011, pending approval by the LA harbor board on Thursday.

The Disney Cruise Line has sailed from the west coast before, for a few weeks in 2005 and 2008. But this will be a two-year, and possibly five-year, repositioning of the Wonder. No details on itineraries yet, so, no, you can't make reservations.

Given that LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa was at the press event at Disney's El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, I'd say that the agreement with the harbor commissioners is pretty much a done deal.

Don't know. Don't care. Let LA have the Wonder...I'm thinking the Magic will be relegated to the 3 and 4 day trips, and the Dream and Fantasy will host the longer cruises.

Just a guess, mind you...

Disney will be sailing out of San Pedro/LA Harbor. Long Beach owns the "old Spruce Goose" dock and it is on a long term lease to Carnival so no Disney will not be sailing out of Long Beach.
