Vote of the week: The best water park in Orlando?

March 13, 2009, 10:01 AM · Thanks to Theme Park Insider reader Alex Clark for the topic of this week's vote.

Let's get our minds off the depressing financial news from Six Flags and Cedar Fair, shall we? Let's instead think of Central Florida vacations, hot summer days... and water parks.

Aquatica

I know that we don't do much coverage of water parks here on Theme Park Insider. (And yes, I've promised for two years now to improve that. Somebody, please clone me. Or at least submit some picture-laden trip reports about one or more of these parks to kick me into gear.)

Which of the Big Four Orlando-area water parks is your favorite?

Tell us why, please, in the comments.

They have the tallest water slide in the country, which is an amazing ride! plus the toboggan slides are really fun, the ski lift is very unique, and I most of all love the theming! Most water parks don't have any story at all, but BB has a very detailed story, Disney style! And all the mountains and snow and buildings and slides are very well themed
March 13, 2009 at 10:28 AM · I've only been to Wet-n-Wild and I know it's not the best so I abstained. Just don't do water parks much. Maybe when the kids get a little older.
March 13, 2009 at 10:31 AM · I gotta go with Blizzard Beach as well! Great theming, Great Slides, and great Family raft ride! I would give second to Typhoon Lagoon, but they really are all different, especially Aquatica which has a very large sea animal component to it
March 13, 2009 at 10:40 AM · From an Orlando local and past Cast Member at Typhoon Lagoon, my love is usually Typhoon Lagoon until Aquatica opened. This waterpark is now my favorite Orlando Water Park!
March 13, 2009 at 11:54 AM · Gotta go with Typhoon Lagoon. Aquatica still has some work to do and its' headliner of a slide is a bit of letdown, especially compared to one down at the Atlantis. Blizzard Beach has some great slides, but the pool, lazy river and lack of vegetation really bother me. Typhoon Lagoon also has a great theme and story. It is also the water park I go to if I can only go to one.
March 13, 2009 at 1:13 PM · I would say Blizzard Beach for Summit Plummet alone. We went to Typhoon Lagoon last time and didn't enjoy ourselves. Not sure why... it was really packed and I think we just hit one of those busy days. Two days later we went to Blizzard Beach (EMH) and went through everything within two hours. So this time, IF they have EMHs at Typhoon Lagoon, we plan to hit that one up early. I hear they have awesome attractions at this park, too. I think last time it was just too packed to enjoy.
March 13, 2009 at 1:52 PM · Its really tough because Aquatica, Typoon Lagoon, and Blizzard Beach all have their pros and cons.
March 13, 2009 at 7:56 PM · I miss River Country!! It was sooo relaxing, and the kids loved it when they were little.
March 13, 2009 at 9:31 PM · Loved Typhoon Lagoon, the wave pool was the best. We also loved the look of the park, it was so tropical which was very relaxing.
March 14, 2009 at 7:50 AM · Maybe everyone's just Disney-loyals, but I think Wet'n'Wild still trumps all the other parks for sheer number of rides, and variety. The theming might not be as strong, but it's a really great mix of rides. I've always found myself bored at the other parks. I haven't visited Aquatica yet, but I haven't heard anything particularly exemplary about it.
March 14, 2009 at 11:26 AM · I love Blizzard Beach for it's great slides, but I really prefer Typhoon Lagoon for being able to spend most of the day there.
March 14, 2009 at 2:46 PM · ABSOLUTELY TYPHOON LAGOON!

The tropical atmosphere is wonderful -- to the point where there's a nature walk across a rope bridge up to the highest point in the park. The lazy river can cure high blood pressure. But beyond all of that there is the BEST WAVE POOL ON THE PLANET ... PERIOD ... END OF STORY .... DONE DEAL!

We have held annual passes to the Disney water parks for YEARS. Tee-EL is the best!

March 15, 2009 at 11:29 AM · Gotta give it to Typhoon Lagoon. The other three parks have better slides than Typhoon, but they lack a comfortable setting. They all seem to lack vegetation and shade.
March 16, 2009 at 10:02 AM · Wet 'n Wild by far has the best thrill rides and themed rides! The Disco H2O is my all time favorite!! Check it out!! There is something for everyone young and the young at heart. You will be pleasantly surprised!!
March 16, 2009 at 10:42 AM · Wet'n Wild is the original and still the best. The most exciting rides and the best managed. Clean, safe, and fun. Not to mention that it is the best value.
March 16, 2009 at 11:08 AM · I have to say Wet n Wild is my fav! Love Knee Ski!
March 17, 2009 at 8:00 AM · Wet and Wild isn't even close to the quality of Typhoon Lagoon. The Wave Pool blow's WW's away. Ditto the Lazy River. Crush n Gusher is a blast.

Plus the park's atmosphere set's the standard for any water park.

March 17, 2009 at 11:14 AM · Have only visited BB and TL, but will be visisting the other two for the first time this November. Typhoon Lagoon is my favorite of the two I know, I have visited a few times when I was little and once as an adult. I love the design, the atmosphere and the variety of attractions. The Crush n Gusher is my favorite water ride ever! I had high hopes for Blizzard Beach on my last visit, but just like when I was little I enjoyed my day but it paled in comparison to TL.
